OME Banjo
I am honored to be sponsored by the OME Banjo Company out of Boulder, Colorado.
They custom built me their Juniper Model banjo which I use exclusively. The folks
at OME must have cringed a bit when I painted the head blue and lettered it with "Banjos Not Bombs" then wedged my kangaroo stuffed animal
(Roo from Winnie the Pooh, my childhood toy) inside the pot as a damper.
Despite my adaptations, it is a beautiful, warm instrument that leaves me
wanting for no other.
OME makes truly wonderful instruments (see the link at bottom of page) with
very ornate inlays and the works but I like things simple. My Juniper model
has a wooden rim with no tone ring; I prefer it that way. I don't like the
chaotic ringing of typical banjos, I don't want the tones running all over
each other. My OME Banjo is dampened to sound tight with controlled sustain.
It's very trustworthy with good balance and intonation. It has amazing high-end
