Peace Pole Project In the wake of Sept. 11th, it was immediately clear that America was going to respond to the event in a vengeful way. This was as painful to us as the tragedy itself. We know from our travels that people all over the world are ready to move beyond this archaic cycle of violence. We decided that we needed to create a way for people to express their desire for more peaceful solutions to the world's conflicts. Inspired by the World Peace Prayer Societies 'Peace Pole' project, we set out to design and make 'mini' peace poles that could be made inexpensively in large numbers and be given away for free (or for a small donation to keep it sustainable). The project has been a huge success and the demand has proved far beyond our ability to produce them. We are over the 2000 mark for pole planted in our fair city. The desire for peace poles seems to be limitless so we have designed this brochure to inspire others to do the same in their community. The brochure at right can be downloaded and distributed freely. It tells how to make peace poles. |
