Omni Center for Peace, Justice, and Ecology

We chose to become active members of the Omni Center for Peace, Justice & Ecology as an outlet for our social activism. It's the umbrella group for all the local activists, from ACLU to N.O.W. to the Sierra Club to the Medical Marijuana cause. We strongly feel it is important for each of us to be active in our community in whatever way that feels right for us. We have chosen the Peace movement as our focus.

A new community project we are involved in is helping to create Community Peace Gardens in our local parks. We have the go ahead from the Parks and Recreation Department and have a team of horticulturists working with us. We are working with middle, jr. high and high school students to create large peace poles for the gardens. Each student will get a 5"X 5" primed wooden panel to paint a letter on and design a bright background. The letters P - E - A - C- E will adorn all 4 sides of the pole (20 students per pole). We are excited about getting kids involved in this as we need more icons of PEACE in our world!
